Educational institutions in Islamabad closed

ISLAMABAD: After a threat warning about a possible terrorist attack, several educational institutions in Islamabad were closed to prevent a disaster, ARY News reported on Monday, citing sources.

Sources claimed that the banned organization had planned to carry out several “terrorist attacks” on educational institutions, especially schools and universities, in Islamabad.

Sources in the threat warning indicated that the “terrorist attacks” between the 22nd and 24th. January was perpetrated by suicide bombers associated with the banned organizations.

Police officers said in a statement that security measures in the capital were tight, but caution should be exercised at election rallies and public gatherings in the federal capital.

In early 2021, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) announced that a high security warning was issued across the country due to a possible risk of terrorism and that intelligence operations (IBOs) will be carried out in Punjab.

The CTD Punjab said in a statement that the highest security warning was issued in the face of a possible terrorist threat. The spokesman added that IBOs are performed throughout Punjab, as 23 operations have been performed in different districts in the past seven days.

During the IBOs, 23 suspects were interrogated and two well-known terrorists, Abdul Samad, and Ikramullah Khan, were arrested. The alleged terrorist Abdul Samad was arrested in Sialkot and Ikramullah Khan in Nankana Sahib.
